Public Forum Letter
LDS Apostle Dallin Oaks said: "People who asserted one position on an election in California were punished. Some of them were fired from their jobs. ... Some were told, 'we're boycotting your business because you don't agree with us in the position you've taken.' I see that as directly comparable to the intimidation of black people in the South for asserting their civil rights" ("Intimidating LDS," Forum, Oct. 22).
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints thinks it's OK to discriminate against a select few when they display affection on its "little slice of Paris," while Mormon wedding parties may openly kiss. Mormon Gayle Ruzicka has tried, fortunately unsuccessfully, a number of times to get openly gay legislators voted out of office (i.e., fired from their jobs). And not long ago, Focus On The Family boycotted Ford Motor and the Disney companies because they offered domestic partner benefits to their gay employees.
