The idea that it is somehow cleaner or more thoughtful to put your dog's excrement into a bag and then leave it alongside a trail is ludicrous. Why on earth not kick the stuff into the bushes and let some animal or insects devour it unnoticed, naturally and faster?
I am running a little experiment to see how long it takes for a "biodegradable" dog waste bag to biodegrade. Perhaps the place I put the tidily bagged animal waste is not sunny enough, but since August 1, it has not visibly degraded a bit; not even the bag's color has faded. However, some little creature has opened a hole in the bag, presumably to use up its contents.
A doggie bag does not degrade in a hurry while sitting alongside a trail. Leaving it there is not cleaner and does not make a more pleasant experience for the rest of us. If you are not planning to take the thing away, please don't bag!
