Twilight Concert Series features Divine Fits and Austra

Divine Fits headlined the sixth installment of the Salt Lake City Arts Council’s Twilight Concert Series on Thursday night in Pioneer Park, with Austra opening.

Divine Fits is a pop-rock supergroup that includes Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks. The Salt Lake City concert is one of the first shows the group has played since coming together last winter.

The band’s music can be described an a mix of synth-pop and rock ’n’ roll. The band played many of the songs off its first album, "A Thing Called Divine Fits," set to be released Aug. 28.

Opening was Austra, a Toronto trio of vocalist and multi-intrumentalist Katie Stelmanis, drummer Maya Postepski and bassist Dorian Wolf.

Coming up • Next week’s concert features Iron & Wine, with singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards opening. The series’ last concert is Aug. 30, with Common and Aloe Blacc. Tickets are $5 for all shows, available in advance at Graywhale Entertainment stores or at the gate.
