Robbie Findley's return to RSL appears imminent

Robbie Findley has said goodbye to his fans in England.

And while he has yet to say hello to the ones he has in Salt Lake City, all indications are that a return to the Wasatch Front is imminent.

The English club Nottingham Forest, where the 27-year-old forward has spent the past two years, announced Monday it had terminated Findley's deal, citing "mutual consent." Meanwhile, sources have confirmed to The Salt Lake Tribune that Findley has signed a deal with Major League Soccer, which handles all its players' contracts.

Real Salt Lake general manager Garth Lagerwey said last week that the club was interested in pursuing Findley and that there was a "real good chance" he could be back with the club this year. The remaining hurdles in a return to RSL would be acquiring the player's rights, and having him pass a physical.

Findley's MLS rights are currently held by Portland, which took him in the 2010 Expansion Draft. And while no deal has officially been reached, Findley was expected to be in Salt Lake on Monday for a physical.
