Olympia, Wash. » A new memorial in honor of missing Utah mother Susan Cox Powell and her two children will be dedicated Thursday, the third anniversary of the young mom’s disappearance.
Crews worked to install the Christmas Box Angel memorial Monday at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup, near the site where her sons Charlie and Braden are buried. More than 25 angel statues around the country provide a place for grieving parents who have suffered the loss of a child. Those healing ceremonies are held on Dec. 6, which coincides with the date Susan disappeared in 2009.
Susan Powell’s husband killed Charlie and Braden, earlier this year. Josh Powell also died in the fire he set at the home he was renting amid the investigation into his wife’s disappearance.
Donations to Crime Stoppers and the Susan Cox Powell Foundation paid for the memorial.
